South East Ambrym Area Council Physical Plan

Located just five minutes’ drive from the airport and Mossung Secondary and Primary Schools, the new South East Ambrym Area Council site is rising on a 2-hectare flatland in the heart of Toak Community. This development is not only a strategic hub but a symbol of unity, hard work, and vision for the future of Toak and the broader South East Ambrym region.

A Strategic and Accessible Location

The site enjoys excellent accessibility, being near key facilities such as educational institutions and transport links. Its flat terrain makes it ideal for accommodating a wide range of important infrastructure that will serve the growing needs of the community.

Facilities and Services Planned

The South East Ambrym Area Council’s physical plan is extensive and community-focused, designed to house critical services, public spaces, and support infrastructure. The site will accommodate:

The master plan also includes an AC Sign Board and Flag Poles, giving the area an official and welcoming appearance for visitors and dignitaries.

A Community-Led Effort

The success of this ambitious project is thanks to the tremendous dedication and hard work of the people of Toak Community, supported strongly by neighboring South East Ambrym communities. Chiefs, elders, youth, and community members have come together to prepare the land, build the infrastructure, and breathe life into this dream.

The clearing of the area where the Chiefs’ Nakamal will be built, and the nearing completion of the AC Main Building, are major milestones. They symbolize the commitment of the people to strengthening governance, culture, and services for South East Ambrym.

A Vision for the Future

This site is more than a collection of buildings — it is a foundation for a stronger, more connected South East Ambrym. It will host government offices, banking services, cultural spaces, disaster response services, tourism promotion, and community facilities all in one central location.

The South East Ambrym Physical Plan represents a proud and historic achievement, blending modern development with traditional leadership and community spirit. It promises a vibrant future where services are closer to the people and where cultural identity and modern governance go hand in hand.

The journey continues, and Toak Community stands proudly at the heart of this exciting transformation.
